The images are in – and now it is your turn to choose your favorite scientific images for the Public Choice Award in the Helmholtz Imaging Best Scientific Image Contest 2026.

This year’s submissions offer once again fascinating perspectives on science across the Helmholtz Association. While our international jury has successfully reviewed the entries for scientific merit, originality, and visual impact, the public can explore the gallery and choose its own favorite image.

From microscopic structures to large-scale systems, the contest shows how scientific images can reveal research in unexpected, informative, and visually compelling ways.

Public voting be open from July 30 through August 18, 2026.
