The DESY Information Technology (IT) group is actively involved in numerous prestigious national and European projects, dedicated to evaluating and advancing new and innovative IT technologies. As part of its commitment to supporting Al initiatives within the Helmholtz Association, DESY has secured funding to develop and maintain a professional Model Zoo accessible to all Helmholtz members. This Model Zoo will encompass a wide range of scientific domains represented within the Helmholtz Association. The models will be deployed on cutting‑edge high‑performance computing (HPC) technologies to ensure optimal performance and scalability.

About your role:

  • Develop the cloud infrastructure for the Model Zoo
  • Create a concept for the establishment of a web service for Al model deployment
  • Coordinate the implementation of the cloud service, including UX design
  • Develop software to automate the processes for deploying new models
  • Design the utilization of DESY HPC resources and integrate high‑performance storage systems
  • Provide documentation and conduct training sessions for scientific users
  • Present the cloud service at conferences and workshops

About you:

  • You have completed at least a master’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics or related subjects, or comparable knowledge
  • You are passionate about designing and building infrastructure that enables scientists to access essential cloud services effortlessly
  • You have knowledge of web technologies such as Rest APls, OpenlD‑connect, web frameworks or similar
  • You are a communicative team player who enjoys working in large international teams and who is open to travel
  • Your previous experience in large‑scale projects involving geographically dispersed teams will be an asset
  • You have good spoken and written command of the English language
