Who we are and what we do

Welcome to Helmholtz Imaging

Helmholtz Imaging is part of the Helmholtz Association.
We support researchers who work with images and image data.
Many research fields use images and image data.
For example: the research fields “health”, “earth and environment”, “energy”, and “materials”.
Our goal is to make research easier and better. Research that is based on images and image data.

What we do

We help researchers make and use images in the best way.
Our work focuses on support, research and community-building.

Support

We support researchers in their daily work with images.
We offer advice, tools, software, and training.
We help with image data, methods, and analysis.
Researchers can apply for collaborations or projects with us.
Collaborations run up to 6 months (or longer).
Projects are funded by us for two to three years.
In a collaboration or project, we solve image-related research questions together. Researchers need to apply for a collaboration or project.
Our resources help researchers do high-quality work.

Research

We work on new methods and ideas for image science.
Our topics include image reconstruction, integrative imaging data, and image analysis.
Our research helps improve how images and image data are used in science.

Community-building

We bring researchers together.
We support exchange and collaboration across Helmholtz and beyond.
We organize events, workshops, and conferences.
These events help researchers connect, share knowledge, and learn from each other.

Who can work with us?

Researchers from the Helmholtz Association who use images or image data.
If you need support, we help you find the right resource or team.

Our goal

We want to strengthen image-related research in Helmholtz and beyond.
We want to connect people, share knowledge, and improve image science together.
