Dr. Thomas Rossberg

Research Software Engineer

Thomas is a postdoctoral researcher and research software engineer with a background in satellite imagery, remote sensing, and deep learning, working to help researchers make optimal use of their acquired image and data.

Previously, he led a project that combined satellite imagery and machine learning to predict pasture biomass, developing a comprehensive reproducible pipeline for image acquisition, processing, and ML training/evaluation.

During his PhD, Thomas specialized in processing SAR and optical satellite data using deep learning techniques, including pixel-wise regression and time series analysis, and genuinely enjoyed effectively exploring and leveraging this multi-modal data. He draws on an interdisciplinary background spanning computer science, electrical engineering, and signal processing to ground his deep learning and computer vision specialization, with a particular strength in transforming theoretical concepts into practical, operational solutions.

If you’ve got image (or other) data and problems to use it well, I’d love to hear from you and connect with you!
