Lena studied Technomathematics at both the Hamburg University of Technology and the University of Hamburg and spent semesters abroad at the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Valladolid. During her studies, she was a scholarship holder of the Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft (Foundation of German Business).
Her interest lies in mathematics for medical technology, particularly inverse problems and image reconstruction for medical imaging. For her bachelor’s thesis, she developed spline filters for the filtered back-projection in computed tomography. In her master’s thesis, she focused on Radon-based image reconstruction for field-free line magnetic particle imaging. As a PhD student in the computational imaging group at DESY, she works on image reconstruction for optoacoustic mesoscopy.
