We are excited to welcome Prof. Dr. Manuel Guizar-Sicairos as a guest scientist at Helmholtz Imaging, starting in March 2025. He leads the Computational X-ray Imaging group at PSI, is an Associate Professor at EPFL, and a Fellow of Optica and SPIE. Additionally, he serves as a Confidential Advisor at Respect@PSI.

As part of his visit, he will give an online talk on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 3 PM CET, where he will share insights from his research.

  • Talk Title: Recent advances in coherent X-ray lensless imaging and prospects for 4th generation synchrotron sources
  • Summary: The last two decades have seen an increased interest in research and development of computational imaging techniques for high-resolution X-ray imaging. Such techniques leverage the coherence of X-ray synchrotron sources to overcome limitations in manufacturing X-ray optics with high numerical aperture, relying instead on computations to form understandable images. In his talk, Manuel will introduce one of these techniques, namely ptychography, and outline recent developments of the technique for 3D nanoscale imaging.
